□□□ Founder's Story
Angie Mwafulirwa, the visionary behind Sharpen Her, founded the network on International Women’s Day 2019 with one purpose: to uplift and empower African women in Scotland and beyond.
As an African woman who experienced the isolation that can come with migrating to a new place, Angie understood the need for a sisterhood — a space where women could gather, support one another, and grow stronger together. Her journey began not just as a founder, but as someone seeking connection, healing, and purpose.
Angie’s background in community development, coaching, and her lived experience shaped the heartbeat of Sharpen Her. The name comes from the phrase, "Iron sharpens iron," — a reminder that women thrive best when they uplift each other.
From one woman’s vision has grown a powerful network reaching not only across Glasgow but into Malawi and Zambia, through programs, workshops, and powerful storytelling. Angie’s story continues to inspire and energize women to rediscover themselves, stand tall in their truth, and lead boldly.

"Sharpen Her is more than a network — it’s a movement of strength, healing, and purpose."
